Hyderabad: The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) has taken cognisance of two separate complaints alleging serious
human rights violations and has ordered inquiries, seeking responses from the concerned officials.
In the first case, the commission took note of allegations that a sub-inspector attached to Manthani police station in the Ramagundam commissionerate brutally assaulted a man inside the police station in Dec 2024. The complaint claims that the victim later attempted suicide and subsequently died while undergoing treatment several months later. It also alleges that the victim's family was intimidated and that the cremation was carried out the same night in the presence of heavy police deployment. Observing that the allegations are grave in nature, the commission has summoned the concerned police officer and the complainant for an inquiry.
In the second matter, the commission examined a complaint alleging that a woman died by suicide in Oct 2025 after facing continuous harassment, threats, and illegal demands from officials of the town planning department of the Karimnagar municipal corporation. Taking a serious view of the allegations, the commission has sought an explanation from the concerned town planning official and posted the matter for further consideration.
The commission stated that the inquiries aim to ascertain the facts and fix accountability if human rights violations are established.
